12/15 MORNING UPDATE
If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site this morning:
-UFC on Fox 13 drew just 2.27 million viewers in the fast overnight ratings, up from the previous two events but down significantly from past December cards. Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for more on the numbers and where they stack up against the rest of the UFC's network TV cards.
-Joanna Jedrzejczyk more than likely gets a crack at Carla Esparza next for the UFC Women's Strawweight Title, as Dana White came away from UFC on Fox 13 quite impressed with her game after a close fight with Claudia Gadelha. More from White with further thoughts on her title fight on the mobile site.
-The UFC had a relatively modest payroll for Friday's Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale, with Charles Oliveira topping disclosed earnings at $52K, while new Champ Claudia Esparza earned $50K for her win. Get the full list of payouts on the mobile site now.
-Irish featherweight Conor McGregor, who has gotten his fair share of opportunities off of notoriety, commented on the UFC signing CM Punk to a contract. While he's not opposed to giving Punk a shot as an idea, he believes Punk seemed scared when talking about coming into MMA, as if he's not quite sure what he's gotten himself into. See more of McGregor's comments, with further thoughts on his assessment, on the mobile site.
-In our morning poll, we asked readers for their take on Rousimar Palhares' kneebar over Jon Fitch at WSOF 16, and whether or not they felt he held it too long. 46% said it was absolutely too long, 35% said it was borderline, but certainly questionable given his history, while the remaining 19% felt there wasn't anything wrong with it.
We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
