12/9 NIGHTTIME UPDATE
If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site tonight:
-In a new roundtable today, the crew looks at whom Robbie Lawler should face in his first UFC title defense. Excerpt from Rich Hansen: “If Rory MacDonald wins the title, and if Georges St-Pierre is ever going to return to the UFC, and if St-Pierre will never fight MacDonald, and if you understand the concept of making money... then Robbie Lawler's next fight needs to be this March, in Montreal, versus Georges St-Pierre.” Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for the full roundtable.
-In a brand new MMATorch Livecast tonight, Rich Hansen and I were joined by UFC heavyweight Josh Barnett for a half hour interview, and after that we broke down UFC 181 and much more. Head to the mobile site to listen to this week's two hour episode of our weekly podcast.
-Joe Rogan absolutely eviscerated his supposed friend Brendan Schaub on Schaub's own podcast today. The conversation came after Schaub's loss to Travis Browne last weekend, and Rogan did not hold back. Catch some comments from the broadcast, with further analysis on Rogan's approach and overall message on the mobile site now.
-Anderson Silva opened up on his thoughts regarding homosexual competitors in MMA, expressing a refreshing and much needed outlook on why he believes there are many closeted competitors, with many others afraid to speak up.
We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!

Lyoto Machida Is Ready For CB Dollaway
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida gets back in the octagon tonight when he takes on CB Dollaway in the main event of UFC Fight Night 58. Machida has his eyes set on the middleweight title, but he is going to have to get through Dollaway if he wants a crack at the winner […]

Frankie Edgar says Conor McGregor push is no surprise
Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar (17-4-1) is set to face Cub Swanson (21-5) next month in what looked like a No. 1 contender's fight until UFC president Dana White all but dismissed the pair as potential repeat opponents for title-holder Jose Aldo (24-1), and lined up Conor McGregor as the likely next title challenger if the champ gets past Chad Mendes (16-1) later this month. Edgar lost a decision to Aldo in 2013, and Swanson was quickly KO'd by "Scarface" back in 2009.
Since that time, Swanson has won six straight, and Edgar has won two in a row. McGregor has won his first four UFC fights and became a fast global star in the promotion.
It's because of that rapid rise to fame that Edgar understands White and the UFC's motivation in pushing the brash Irishman ahead of the title challenger's pack.
"It doesn't surprise me," Edgar told ESPN.com in a recent interview. "As a promoter, it's probably the smart thing to do. He's got a lot of buzz going. Why have him lose before they can make money on that fight?"
Of course, Edgar wants another crack at Aldo and the featherweight title, should he get past Swanson on Nov. 22. Don't expect "The Answer" to do much more than get back to work if he doesn't get the opportunity, however.
"I do want to fight for the title after I beat Cub, but if I have to fight somebody else, what am I going to do?" he asked. "I can't sit around and feel sorry for myself. I have to go to work and get it done."
As for how he thinks he himself would fare against the "Notorious" McGregor, Edgar was succinct. I know I match up well against him," he said.
Would you rather see McGregor face the winner of Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes II, instead of having Edgar or Swanson vie for the featherweight title? Let us know in the comments section!

After successful surgery, mess in Macau, David Mitchell primed for UFC victory

Injuries, surgery and rehabilitation have left Mitchell out of action for more than 15 months - a streak he had hoped to end earlier this month.
Left without an opponent and some 7,000 miles from home, Mitchell admits it was a frustrating plight. Now he's aiming for a January return, and he's anxious to show the world what he can do when fighting at full strength.
Josh Samman obliterates Eddie Gordon with one of year's best KOs
LAS VEGAS -- Josh Samman didn't have a very good first round against Eddie Gordon. The middleweight winner of "The Ultimate Fighter" Season 19, Gordon used his strength and his wrestling to control Samman in the first.
But Gordon was loading up on every punch he threw, throwing from left field, and it guaranteed him a spot in the highlight reels for years to come.
As Gordon appeared to wind back to fire a right hand, Samman blasted him along the side of the face with a head kick during their bout at UFC 181 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. Gordon went down as if he'd been shot and the fight was over in an instant.
It was unquestionably one of the best and most vicious knockouts of the year, but it also ranks up there with the sport's best head kick knockouts ever. It was reminscent in many ways of a head kick knockout on TUF by Uriah Hall, who cold-cocked Adam Cella.

12/15 NIGHTTIME UPDATE
If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site tonight:
-The California State Athletic Commission won't be pursuing any further action against Rousimar Palhares after he held another submission a bit too long on Saturday against Jon Fitch at WSOF 16. However, the commission's executive director, Andy Foster, was far from happy with Palhares, and said Palhares' history leaves him open to further scrutiny in these incidences. Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for more of Foster's comments, with further analysis.
-Now that they don't have the Nevada commission asking them about it, both Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier say they'd handle their August brawl the same way were it to happen again. See their comments from Saturday's UFC on Fox 13 broadcast with further thoughts on the mobile site.
-Bellator 133 has added two new fights in Pat Curran vs. Daniel Weichel and Julia Budd vs. Talita Nogueira. More on those fights and fighters on the mobile site.
-Yancy Medeiros and Heather Jo Clark are out up to six months after injuries suffered in victory at The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale on Friday night. Get the full list of suspensions on the mobile site.
-Frank Mir is returning at UFC 184 in February, over a year after his last appearance in the Octagon. He said this past week that he considered retirement after the loss to Alistair Overeem, but didn't want to make any quick decisions during the year. Catch his comments with further analysis on the mobile site.
