11/29 UPDATE

If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site today:

-Wanderlei Silva released another video ranting about the UFC and how he was barred from a promotional appearance for Bellator. He railed against the UFC threatening to sue him if he went through with the event, and how he's stuck without being able to make money off his name while still under UFC contract. Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for his full video with further analysis.

-Luke Rockhold says he's healthy and ready to go after his win over Michael Bisping earlier this month, and he's keeping himself available should one of the four top middleweights fighting at UFC 184 in Los Angeles fall out. Catch his comments on that with further analysis on his spot in the division at our mobile site.

-Jon Jones thinks the promotion for his fight with Daniel Cormier has lost some steam with his injury delay, as they weren't able to capitalize on the brawl that took place in August. However, he still thinks people care and will tune in for their fight on January 3. Check out more thoughts from Jones on the subject with more comments on the mobile site now.

-Joe Lauzon has a new fight booked for early 2015, coming after an injury forced him out of UFC 180 earlier this month. In an interview this week, the longtime UFC vet opened up about injuries in the sport and the toll they take on fighters emotionally, physically, and financially. See his comments with further thoughts on the mobile site.

-John Dodson is coming back from injury in the new year, and he's targeting a run at whichever Championship the UFC will let him go after, be it Demetrious Johnson's Flyweight Title of T.J. Dillashaw's Bantamweight Title. See what Dodson had to say with further thoughts on the mobile site.

-Finally tonight, head to the mobile site for a behind the scenes video on this month's Bellator 131 event.

Holly Holm reportedly is injured, forced to withdraw from Dec. 6 UFC debut

The wait for the UFC debut of long-time women's boxing champion Holly Holm is going to be a bit longer.

Holm, who was slated to make her Octagon debut on Dec. 6 in Las Vegas against Raquel Pennington at UFC 181 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, suffered an undisclosed injury and withdrew from the bout. The injury was first reported by a Portuegese-language MMA site and later confirmed by MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani.

Holm was 32-2-3 as a boxer and was a two-division champion. She is one of the most high-profile boxers ever to transition to mixed martial arts.

She is seen as a potential 2015 challenger to UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.

But it now appears that Holm won't make her Octagon debut until 2015.

11/26 NIGHT UPDATE: Roundtable on who should get next Flyweight Title shot; Barao thinks Dillashaw would "crap his pants" if he fought him in Brazil; more

11/26 NIGHTTIME UPDATE

If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site tonight:

-In a new roundtable today, the crew discusses who should get the next shot at UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson. Excerpt from Rich Hansen: “Ain't nobody out there is going to lay a finger on Demetrious Johnson's belt until he's in his thirties. He's not getting paid enough money to get complacent, so he's going to continue to actually improve his already breathtaking skill set until his body goes into decline. And since he isn't a Nogueira, that might not be until his mid-to-late thirties.” Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for the full roundtable.

-Renan Barao thinks T.J. Dillashaw wouldn't be able to handle fighting him in Brazil, saying the Champ would “crap his pants” if a rematch between the two took place down there. Catch his comments with further analysis on the mobile site.

-Charles Rosa vs. Sean Soriano has been added to UFC Fight Night 59 in Boston, and in other fight booking news, Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto takes on Roman Salazar at UFC 184. Get more on both fights on the mobile site now.

-Head to the mobile site now for the full list of medical suspensions out of last weekend's UFC Fight Night 57 event in Austin, Texas.

UFC On FOX 13: Henry Cejudo Shows Gold-Medal Boxing

Henry Cejudo had an impressive UFC debut Saturday at UFC on FOX 13, dominating veteran Dustin Kimura with his striking. As a former U.S. Olympic gold medalist, most believed Cejudo’s wrestling would be put on display. Instead, it was his striking that allowed him to win for the seventh time. “A lot of people think […]

UFC champ Ronda Rousey: ' I would rather die than lose'

UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is undefeated in her MMA career, and she intends to keep it that way. In fact, during a recent interview with Showtime, the "Rowdy" one said she'd rather die than lose a fight.

“I know that I would rather physically die than die inside from losing a fight. I remember every single loss of my career, but have forgotten so many of my victories," she said. “It’s not that I’ve never lost; it’s that I’ve lost at the worst times, so I know what a loss is. That’s why I want to win so much more than these other girls."

According to the 135-pound queen, she's already psychologically faced that choice during fights and pushed through.

“There have been times during a fight when I thought I was going to die,” Rousey said. “I thought to myself, ‘I would rather break my neck than lose this fight.’"

The former two-time Judo Olympian has lost throughout her athletic career. If an MMA fighter is going to beat Rousey, however, she insists it won't be because she gave up.

“I will never tap out of a fight because I know the feeling of losing," she said. "I know that I would rather die than lose a fight.”

Rousey next defends her UFC championship in January against No. 1 contender Cat Zingano.

Yves Edwards vs. Jeremy Stephens rebooked for UFC on FOX 5

After their initial meeting was infamously canceled last minute, lightweights Yves Edwards and Jeremy Stephens will give it another go at UFC on FOX 5.

As MMAjunkie.com first reported earlier today, Edwards' original opponent, John Cholish, recently scratched due to a groin injury.

In his place steps Stephens, whose incarceration canceled their planned bout this past month at UFC on FX 5.

With pressure gone, Stephan Bonnar ready to let it all hang out

Stephan Bonnar (15-8) felt relieved. It was the spring of 2005 and the light heavyweight had just lost a razor-thin decision in the finals of the first ever Ultimate Fighter (TUF) series to Forrest Griffin.

The stakes were high for fighters like Bonnar and Griffin, all throughout the TUF season. The winner in each weight class (Kenny Florian and Diego Sanchez met in the middleweight finals) was to get a UFC contract.

Sitting with Cagewriter after a lunch in his home of Las Vegas, Bonnar remembers the pressure at that time feeling great. After laying it all out in a desperate attempt to win the light heavyweight UFC contract and losing the decision, he felt a weight had been lifted off his shoulders.

The feeling wouldn’t last.

Bonnar and Griffin both fought so well that, moments after the decision was rendered and announced, UFC president Dana White came into the Octagon and announced that both fighters were receiving contracts. “The whole time, we were all convinced that one winner in each division would get a contract,” Bonnar remembers.

“We tried so hard to win it, and when I lost, I was relieved. I thought, ‘cool, I guess I can get back to my life now.’ Then, Dana offered me the contract as well, and it was kinda scary. I thought, ‘Ok, looks like I’m going to do this for a living.”

Bonnar had fought extensively from his then home of Chicago, but did so for virtually no money. It was the college-educated fighter’s day job, and continued studies that paid the bills.

Suddenly, that was about to change. Bonnar’s professional life and identity was about to be swallowed by MMA.  “April 9, 2005,” he says of the TUF 1 Finale date.

“That was really when I saw myself as a professional fighter.”

Stephan Bonnar (L) fought the best of the best in the UFC, now he debuts in Bellator. (MMA Weekly)

Identity crisis

About a decade of big fights, wins, injuries and other tribulations later, Bonnar retired for a second time, and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. Stepping away from active competition was not easy on Bonnar, however much his body may have appreciated the break. But his mind, which had almost his whole identity wrapped up in being a professional fighter, had a harder time making the adjustment.

“Yeah it was hard,” he says, of retirement.

“I had stepped down from fighting, and had a position with the UFC, was getting my health insurance and all that. Then, I was offered the fight with Anderson [Silva]. Once again, opportunity knocked. I thought that I might as well jump on it. Things didn’t work out, though.

“I ended up getting suspended, losing my job, and all that. That’s when it really crumbled. I took stock and realized that every part of my identity was UFC-related. I was doing a lot of TV work, I had the t-shirt company, I was working with the company. My whole life was UFC, and when that all got wiped away, I had to look at what was left. It was a hard thing to go through. It was good for me to have had to deal with it, then, though. I got into day trading and finally found something outside of fighting that I could pour my heart and energy into. It got easier. It was kind of a relief to be able to pour my energy into something outside of fighting, and the day trading also became kind of my security blanket, financially. There was no longer the pressure of, ‘I’ve got to win to support my family.’”

Of course, Bonnar is back in fighting. At least, for now.

Juice worth the squeeze

“Robocop” will face off against fellow UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz (17-11-1) on November 15 inside a Bellator cage. Bonnar was offered the bout with the former world champion after his suspension was over, saw an opportunity to fight without all the usual down sides, and jumped at it.

“It does seem like the last couple years of fighting was all about getting wins so I could parlay that into getting a big fight where I could then let it all hang out and give a crowd-pleasing fight,” he says.

“With this, I’m catapulted right to that point of a big fight.”

Bonnar says that the feeling, and thrill, leading up to the fight with Ortiz feels about the same as his big UFC bouts did. However, preamble isn’t why he stepped out of retirement – the fight itself is why.

“It feels pretty much the same,” he says.

“But, when it comes down to it, it’s going to be me and him locked in a cage. It doesn’t matter what banner it’s under. The rules are the same.”

Bonnar has always loved a great scrap, and never wilted at the prospect of training hard to be prepared for them. However, over a decade of training and fighting has taken its physical toll on the man.

He says that for his final couple years in the UFC, training camps began to tax him more than they were worth. After some time off, however, he has begun to enjoy the grind again.

“To be honest with you, the last couple of years, training started to become burdensome,” he admits.

“I had a lot of injuries, pain. I got staph [infections] all the time. It was something that I was getting sick of. I had to take a break from it. Now, it is not as bad. I’m a lil’ more tolerant of it. I have a silver lining, now. For so long you just push through injuries, and surgeries, and suck it up. I had a nice break from it and I do feel a little refreshed. I’ve been pushing hard these last couple of months.”

Bonnar has done much of his training with coaches Sergio Penha and “One Kick Nick” Blomgren in his home of Las Vegas. In addition to that, Bonnar says he focused on wrestling with intensity, at the outset of his camp to prepare for Ortiz.

Bonnar knows a fight is unpredictable, and he can’t be certain how things will play out in his return bout against “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy.”

That said, when he visualizes the fight, he does have a simple, and beautiful set of images play through his battle-loving mind. “I just imagine sticking and moving,” he says.

“Shutting his take downs, down, and hitting him in the face.”

Bellator's Josh Neer: 'Paul Bradley made it personal'

Josh Neer (36-13-1) says that he started fighting before he even began real training. The 31 year-old began competing in MMA, essentially as a pure wrestler.

Back then, over twelve years ago, he was just a teenager who wanted to mix it up, and so he did. A lot.

Of course, he eventually began real MMA training, became “The Dentist” and is now a veteran of fifty professional fights, in addition to a relatively long amateur career. Neer doesn’t use more words than he has to in interviews, and doesn’t seem one to become overly effusive with his language, but he has no problem admitting to Cagewriter that he’s passionate about the sport of MMA.

“I wouldn’t say I thought I’d make a career out of it, back then,” he reminisces of the sport.

“Because, I wasn’t making any money doing it (laughs). But I did love doing it, and I wanted to do it for as long as I could.”

In his next bout, taking place this Friday in the main event of Bellator 129 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Neer will fight another Iowan, and he’s not too happy about it. Paul Bradley (21-6) wrestled at Iowa University, but also spent time training at Team Miletich when Neer was still on the team.

Neer says that he and Bradley trained together. What’s more, he never had a “problem” with Bradley.

That is precisely why Neer wasn’t keen on fighting his former teammate this week. “It’s kind of annoying,” he admits.

“When I fight, I like to make it personal. It’s like, why fight someone I’m cool with, when there are a million other fighters out there?”

Still, Neer says he won’t have a problem flipping the switch and becoming a ruthless fighter once he looks across the cage at Bradley on Friday. If he didn’t start out with a grudge against Bradley, he’s sure got one now.

“He made it personal when he signed to fight me,” Neer explains.

“It’s like, ‘alright, I guess he wants to fight me.’ Now, he won’t be a person I’m cool with, he’s a person who is trying to take me out.”

12/1 MORNING UPDATE

If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site this morning:

-With the UFC reportedly targeting a stadium show in Australia next year, Cuban-Australian contender Hector Lombard is hoping for either a title fight or a bout with Georges St-Pierre on that card. Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for his comments with further thoughts on the likelihood of that happening.

-Tito Ortiz doesn't think “King Mo” Lawal is a fight worth taking in Bellator, and he laid out some fairly insulting sentiments as to why in a new interview this past weekend. Catch his disparaging remarks towards Lawal with further comments on the mobile site now.

-Bethe Correia is trying to angle for a fight with Ronda Rousey by the time she can return to injury next spring, and she says she'll knock Rousey out in the first round when she gets that fight. See what Correia had to say with further thoughts on the mobile site.

-Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva realizes both he and Frank Mir are hungry for a win into UFC 184 in February, but he thinks he fights better off a loss. See what he had to say with additional thoughts on the mobile site.

-In our morning poll, we asked readers which of the undercard fights at UFC 181 they were most anticipating. 43% chose the heavyweight bout between Travis Browne and Brendan Schaub, with another 30% picking Urijah Faber vs. Francisco Rivera. Tony Ferguson vs. Abel Trujillo was the only other to receive more than 10% of the vote.

Chael Sonnen: 'I'm not sorry for drug use'

Retired UFC fighter Chael Sonnen is finally being honest about intentionally violating drug rules, but he isn't about to apologize for any of it. Speaking on his new podcast, You're Welcome, Sonnen says he'll just have to live with intentionally trying to game the system.

"I'm not going to apologize because I'm not sorry. I'm a consenting adult. I knew exactly what I was doing. This was a premeditated decision," Sonnen said.

Sonnen went on to explain the rationale and criteria he used when deciding what drugs to take. What substances were and were not allowed by governing athletic commissions was not one of the criteria he was concerned with.

"For me, the litmus test was flawed, but here was my litmus test: Can't be a steroid, and it's got to be legal," Sonnen explained.

"I can't take anything, I don't wan't to be in possession of anything that isn't legal. What I'm talking about there, I'm not talking about the commissions and their rules, I'm talking about the law. I'm talking about, am I holding something in my possession and then a police officer sees me, am I allowed to have that. If the answer's yes, then I'm in. That was my test. If I could get this legal, if there's a legal medication, I'm taking it, I'm not cross-referencing it with the commission. I'm not taking the rules or someone else's over that of a doctor. That's what I'd tell myself to sleep well at night."

There is no way of knowing for certain if Sonnen is telling the truth here, or once more lying. As a convicted felon, he has shown to have trouble keeping on the right side of the law, and before he got caught using himself, he criticized other athletes for using drugs he himself used or would go on to use.

All that is to say - we may be finally getting the full truth from Sonnen, or just another partial version of it. In any case, the three-time UFC title challenger isn't shrinking away from his actions or the limelight.

Sonnen will admit to cheating, but he won't say he's sorry for having tried. "If you're going to try to get away with something, if you're beat, you're beat," Sonnen concluded.

"There's nothing more to it, there's nothing more to the story. I took something, I was caught, I got tarnished and that's it."

Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping bicker on camera

UFC middleweights Luke Rockhold (12-2) and Michael Bisping (25-6) will face off Nov. 8 in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Sydney, and the two rivals sat down with Ultimate Insider host Jon Anik recently to promote the bout (video above). They did a good job.

Hard core fans may remember that Rockhold's beef with Bisping goes back a couple years to when the almost always classless "Count" broke the fighter's gym code of keeping what happens in training, secret, when he insinuated that he badly beat Rockhold up in a sparring session. Rockhold has lobbied for a fight with Bisping to get back at the British star, and will get his wish next month in Australia.

In the above interview with Anik, Bisping mocked Rockhold's sensitivity to his insulting remarks, two years ago. "You're so sensitive about it," Bisping said.

"I made an off-the-cuff remark."

At that point, Rockhold retorted by clarifying, "A tasteless remark."

"My hands were on my knees for two rounds straight and you couldn't do a damn thing in the best shape of your life, as I'm switching my stance," Rockhold continued.

"It's a sparring session. That's all it is. Why did you even talk about it?"

At present, Rockhold is a huge favorite over Bisping. The former Strikeforce middleweight champion has lost only once (to Vitor Belfort) since 2007, whereas Bisping is 3-3 in his last six bouts.

"I will stop Michael Bisping and there's a number of ways it's going to be done," Rockhold concluded.

12/4 MORNING UPDATE: Hall column on UFC/Reebok deal; Richman-Dantas set for Bellator 134; TUF 20 Finale adds six new fights; Pettis-Melendez poll results

12/4 MORNING UPDATE

If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site this morning:

-New MMATorch Contributor Chris Hall made his debut with the site this morning, taking a look at the UFC's uniform deal with Reebok from a number of different angles. Excerpt: “By all appearances, the Reebok deal is only the foundation for promotion-wide sponsorship. Reports are already surfacing that the UFC is working on another deal, this one with Monster Energy drinks. Presumably, some of that sponsorship will also go to the fighters. If the UFC is able to build a strong stable of sponsors in addition to Reebok, fighters may see a substantial amount of income coming from a combination of companies.” Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for the full column.

-A potential contender fight in Bellator's bantamweight division is coming on the same card as the next 135 lb. Championship fight, as Mike Richman will take on former Champ Eduardo Dantas at Bellator 134. More on that fight on the mobile site now.

-With the semifinals set for next week's final episode of The Ultimate Fighter 20, the UFC announced six new matchups for the finale event next week, featuring eleven competitors from the season's tournament. The final two matchups will be set after next Wednesday's final episode.

-In our morning poll, we asked readers to predict the outcome of Saturday's Lightweight Championship bout between Anthony Pettis and Gilbert Melendez at UFC 181. 82% overall are picking Pettis to win the fight, with 51% expecting him to win by TKO.

We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!

Josh Samman obliterates Eddie Gordon with one of year's best KOs

LAS VEGAS -- Josh Samman didn't have a very good first round against Eddie Gordon. The middleweight winner of "The Ultimate Fighter" Season 19, Gordon used his strength and his wrestling to control Samman in the first.

But Gordon was loading up on every punch he threw, throwing from left field, and it guaranteed him a spot in the highlight reels for years to come.

As Gordon appeared to wind back to fire a right hand, Samman blasted him along the side of the face with a head kick during their bout at UFC 181 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. Gordon went down as if he'd been shot and the fight was over in an instant.

“He seemed to struggle a lot with southpaws, so we watched tons of tape to see how to counter that," Samman said after the fight. "That’s essentially where that kick came from and we trained to set it up time and time again.”

It’s been a tough year for me. Tonight was easy compared to what I’ve been through and I can’t thank everyone enough for their support.”

It was unquestionably one of the best and most vicious knockouts of the year, but it also ranks up there with the sport's best head kick knockouts ever. It was reminscent in many ways of a head kick knockout on TUF by Uriah Hall, who cold-cocked Adam Cella.

12/3 MORNING UPDATE: Hyden on UFC 181, Reebok uniform deal; Coker says Bellator willing and able to get any fighter who makes sense; Cyborg delaying bantamweight move; Browne-Schaub poll results

Johny_Hendricks_7.jpg

12/3 MORNING UPDATE

If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site this morning:

-Frank Hyden's weekly piece today is a look at UFC 181, with some comments on the UFC uniform deal with Reebok. Excerpt: “If the UFC actually knew how to promote their fighters better, this card would sell like crazy. You've got the rematch to one of the best fights of this year in UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks vs. Robbie Lawler. I don't expect this fight to live up to their first one, just because it's unfair to expect something like that, but I do think it'll be a very good fight. It's going to be like a chess match as these guys try to replicate what worked in the first fight, but also change things up to try to keep the other off-balance.” Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for the full column.

-Bellator President Scott Coker is talking a big game into 2015. He says with Viacom behind them, there isn't any fighter they won't be willing to go after if they come available and the price is right. See his comments on what they're looking for with further analysis on the mobile site.

-Cris Cyborg is officially delaying her move to bantamweight, saying she's now eying a February return to action to defend her Invicta FC Featherweight Championship. Catch her comments with further thoughts on her immediate future on the mobile site now.

-In our morning poll, we asked readers this morning for their predictions on the Travis Browne vs. Brendan Schaub heavyweight bout at UFC 181. A whopping 87% believe Browne is winning that fight by TKO, while only 11% of the respondents believe Schaub pulls it off.

We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. 12/8 MORNING UPDATE: Moore's top fights to make after UFC 181; Nurmagomedov wants title fight with Pettis; UFC 181 contest results; Lawler poll results

12/8 MORNING UPDATE

If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site this morning:

-In a new column today, Dan Moore breaks down his top fights to make after Saturday's UFC 181 event. Excerpt regarding Robbie Lawler: “Lawler's resurgence is a real success story, and his move to welterweight last year proved to be a brilliant decision. I won't be surprised if the UFC decide on a trilogy fight next year. It's 1-1 now, and both fights have been incredibly close. Rory MacDonald would have been a dead cert if Hendricks won, but he lost to Lawler less than twelve months ago.” Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for the full column.

-Khabib Nurmagomedov wants the next title fight against Anthony Pettis, though he's not ready to return until May. However, if that's the fight the UFC wants, Pettis is just fine with that. Catch comments from both fighters on that potentially happening, with further analysis, on the mobile site.

-If you took part in the prediction and betting contest results for UFC 181 on Saturday, head to the mobile site now to see how you matched up against the field.

-In our new morning poll, we asked readers who they believe should face Robbie Lawler in his first title defense. 60% of the responders want to see him fight Rory MacDonald next. 30% want him to fight Johny Hendricks, while the remaining 10% would rather it be someone else entirely.

'TUF' times: Sonnen says he turned down spot on 'TUF 1,' Jones once cut from tryouts

LAS VEGAS - The debut season of 'The Ultimate Fighter' has long been recognized as the starting point of MMA's current popularity boom and was responsible for launching the careers of stars such as Stephan Bonnar, Kenny Florian, Forrest Griffin, Josh Koscheck, Chris Leben, Diego Sanchez and Mike Swick.

But as successful as the 2005 series debut proved, imagine what it could have been with one Chael P. Sonnen.

Sonnen, who coaches on the upcoming 17th edition of the series, says he actually turned down a spot on "TUF 1."

Anderson Silva: 'I don't like to be disrespected'

Former middleweight champion Anderson Silva may see the utility in taunting opponents in order to throw them off their game come fight night, but he himself doesn't suffer foolish behavior directed his way. The returning all-time great will fight for the first time in more than a year – since having his leg broken by 185-pound champ Chris Weidman – in early 2015 at UFC 183 against the almost-always-trash-talking Nick Diaz.

Silva's manager, Ed Soares, has said he doesn't think that the former welterweight title challenger will bad-mouth Silva, but Diaz started that process a long time ago. In fact, while campaigning for the fight with "The Spider" months ago, Diaz criticized the Brazilian's choices of coaches and fight strategy.

"I'll tell you what, I think [Silva] should fire his trainer and hire himself a boxing trainer that teaches him how to put punches out," Diaz said.

While speaking to members of the media Tuesday, Silva intimated that he won't tolerate more disrespect from Diaz. "I don't like to be disrespected as a man," Silva said.

"I think you need to have respect as an athlete and as a man. If he disrespects me, things are going to happen as they need to happen."

Will Nick Diaz [R] taunt Anderson Silva at UFC 183?

Silva, like most great competitors, seems to feed off of real and perceived slights during competition. He was downright brutal to the only opponent to have really insulted him, Chael Sonnen, in finishing him on two occassions.

Silva's boxing coach, Luis Dorea, was also in attendance at the press conference, and he gave his take on the hands matchup between his charge and Diaz.

"Anderson is a lot more superior technically. Nick Diaz is strong, he comes forward, but Anderson, with his natural ability, he's much better," he said. "I believe it will be a fight that has a lot of striking ... But I believe [Silva] has a lot more speed, a lot more power in his punch. Nick Diaz is always looking for the fight moving forward. We're going to work hard using his natural abilities, his weaknesses, his strengths, and with all of that we're going to have a great victory."

Do you think Diaz will ramp up his trash talk, either leading into the Silva fight, or during it? And, if the fight stays on the feet, who do you think will prevail?

Let us know in the comments section!

11/21 NIGHT UPDATE: Penick's UFC Fight Night 57 main card preview and picks; roundtable on best UFC fight Night 57 fights; more

Fox_Sports_1_logo_102.jpg

11/21 NIGHTTIME UPDATE

If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site tonight:

-My main card preview and picks for UFC Fight Night 57 is now live, with a look at each of the six main card fights and my predictions for winners on the card. Excerpt on Green-Barboza in the co-main event: “Barboza is capable of stopping just about any fight, but he's gotten tripped up in a couple of fights, and he has a tendency to throw defense out the window at times. Green is on a tear with eight straight wins, and he's been as consistent as they come at 155 lbs. However, he enters this event with some very real and personal distractions, and it's hard to know how well he's been able to prepare with everything that's gone on.” Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser for the full preview.

-In a new roundtable today, the crew discussed the best fights on Saturday's card. Excerpt from Cash Norman: “Bobby Green vs. Edson Barbosa is the fight I want to see most. I've been intrigued about this fight since it was first announced. Barbosa has an exciting, explosive, power hitting style. Unfortunately, his chin can't keep pace with his style of fighting. Although I think he's exciting and never want to miss one of his fights, I believe he'll come out explosively, Green will weather the storm, and counter Barbosa knocking him to the ground and finishing with a submission.” Full roundtable on the mobile site.

-Jussier Formiga is out of his fight with John Moraga, leaving Moraga in need of a new opponent for UFC on Fox 13. More on that change to the card with further thoughts on the mobile site now.

-UFC bantamweight Michael McDonald has missed all of this year after undergoing wrist surgery, but he's on the mend and looking at a spring return. More on his situation with further thoughts on the mobile site.

-Also, head to the mobile site for full weigh-in results for UFC Fight Night 57 from Austin.

Here's what's on the site this morning:

-UFC middleweight contender Luke Rockhold gave his thoughts on a potential fight between his teammate, UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez, and Light Heavyweight Champ Jon Jones. Rockhold doesn't think Jones would have a chance at winning, calling Velasquez a “beast” and hard-selling his teammates abilities. Head to our mobile site at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser on our mobile site for more of his comments with further analysis.

-Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz will be rivals for the remainder of their careers, and Faber this weekend talked about why he thinks they'll fight again sometime in the near future, while commenting on recent comments made by Cruz. Get more of Faber's comments with further thoughts on the mobile site.

-Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal wants a fight with Tito Ortiz, and believes he'll beat him badly. However, he also doesn't think Ortiz will actually take a fight with him. Catch his heated comments with further analysis on the mobile site now.

-The UFC has clarified which of their announced dates for 2015 will air on Fox, as in addition to the announced Jan. 24 and April 18 events, July 25 and Dec. 19 will bring Fox events as well. More on that on the mobile site.

-In our morning poll, we asked readers whether Frankie Edgar has done enough to earn another fight with Jose Aldo. 63% believe that he has, 9% don't, while 27% believe he's earned the right for a rematch, but would be fine if Conor McGregor gets the next shot.

UFC champ Ronda Rousey signs jeans endorsement deal

UFC bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey (10-0) has just signed an endrosement deal with clothing brand Buffalo David Bitton, and discussed the development and related issues in a recent interview with Rosemary Feitelberg and Women's Wear Daily. According to the interview, the "Rowdy" one is not worried about being viewed as any less lethal because of her movie roles or jeans photo shoots.

The reason is simple. "It’s impossible for people to not take me seriously as an athlete because I’m the best in the world," she said.

"That gives me a lot of leeway to do whatever I want outside of it. That’s the great thing about fighting in sports: It is so definite. You are the undisputed champion of the world. No one can take that away from you, regardless of how many movies or model shoots you do."

No argument from us on that, Ronda. We also enjoyed what Rousey had to say about how she prepares for photo shoots.

The fighter said that, perhaps unlike many other cover boys and girls, she doesn't starve herself or even worry too much about her weight, heading into photo shoots. "Every single time I do a shoot, I try to do it at a weight I can maintain," the former Judo Olympian said.

"With the ESPN Body issue, I got a little bit lighter because ESPN tries to capture the human body at its highest potential. With anything else - like Maxim or the car magazine shoot I did in Brazil that is about femininity and not athleticism‚ I purposefully try to go in a little bit heavier, at a weight I can chill at and not have to cut down to. I want to be looking how I would on any given Wednesday."

Rousey says she doesn't want to be a part of young women having poor body images because of what they see in magazines. "It’s important to have proper role models and to have proper sexual role models," she explained.

"Growing up, I would see all these chicks in magazines who looked nothing like me at all, and I thought there was something wrong with me. In middle school and high school, the boys I had crushes on were pawing at girls in magazines or just talking about girls who looked nothing like me. I love all the Dove commercials that are about the empowerment of women."

Like just about everything else, Ronda Rousey seems to be doing acting and modeling her way. Hit 'em up, champ.
