FRIDAY 8/8 EVENING UPDATE
If you're tuning in to the App for the first time in a while, make sure to check out the big update on the App's home page for notes and information on the changes made to the new mobile site at MMATorch.com in your mobile browser. Our tech team has been working on even more tweaks based on your feedback, and have optimized the site for Safari and the default Android browser. They're continuing to work on the same for both Chrome and Opera as well. Keep sending your thoughts in to mmatorch@gmail.com so we can make the mobile site the best experience for you! We truly appreciate the feedback, and we're making changes as necessary. Here's what's on the site today:
-Video leaked today of Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier following their Monday interview on ESPN, jawing back and forth while they thought the cameras weren't rolling, and if it wasn't clear before that the two really disliked one another, it is now. The two jawed back and forth a bit, with both calling one another a “pussy,” Cormier saying he wanted to spit in Jones' face, and Jones saying he would “literally” kill Cormier if he did so. Head to the main listing at MMATorch.com in your phone or tablet browser now for a full transcript of the exchange along with some added thoughts.
-Alvin Carter has a double interview up today with Bellator 123 competitors Matt Bissette and Kin Moy. Excerpt from Bissette: “I'd consider doing fights at 145 lbs. on the local scene. I'm all about the idea of testing my skill against a physical disadvantage in size and strength. I definitely find myself excited to work with bigger guys in training, so maybe some day down the line I'll give that a shot in actual competition as well. But I have no illusions about that being a viable career path for me.” Full interview available on the mobile site now.
-The UFC 175 event last month drew between 500,000 and 545,000 pay-per-view buys, making it the biggest drawing card of 2014 thus far. That's not surprising in the least given what was on that card, but it's also well below the top cards of previous years. More on that on the mobile site.
-Finally, there's been a shakeup to the Japan card again for next month, as Urijah Faber is out of his fight with Masenori Kanehara. In his place steps the man he beat last month, Alex Caceres. Further information on the fighters involved on the mobile site now.
We thank all of our readers for their feedback and patience as we continue making improvements on the new mobile site. We're an independent voice in the MMA space with no corporate backing, and as such we stay afloat on ad revenue. This shift to the full listing on mobile web brings us a better chance to keep ourselves going and to bring our readers everything we have for the last five years and more, as the mobile advertising market is simply stronger than that on the app. Continue sending us your feedback to mmatorch@gmail.com and let us know how the new features with the Disqus comments section and more are working for you on mobile web!
